M-PACT TV exists because neighbors deserve a place to tell their own stories. We give residents of Palmer and Monson the studio space, equipment, and hands-on training to put their voices on the air, on their terms.
Whether it’s a town meeting, a school event, a local band, or a conversation that matters to the community, M-PACT TV is the channel that belongs to the people who watch it.
Four Decades of Local Television
Thanks to the forward thinking of Monson resident Jim Faichney, M-PACT began in 1985 and has grown over the years into a full production facility capable of professional-level programming. What started in a converted closet in the basement of Monson’s Memorial Hall has become a resource shared by two towns.
1985
Founded as Monson Public Access Cable Television, Inc. by James B. Faichney, a retired CBS producer, and other Monson residents. Operations began in a closet in the basement of Memorial Hall.
1990
Merged with the Town of Palmer and became Municipal Public Access Cable Television, Inc., extending public access television to both Monson and Palmer.
1992
Expanded into Memorial Hall after Monson’s Town Offices relocated, and built a mobile production truck to serve both Palmer and Monson.
2002
Acquired the former Uniplast Industries building in Palmer, an 8,200 square foot facility. Operations moved into 5,000 square feet, with the remaining space rented out to help offset cost.
2016
Built Studio B, a smaller more intimate space with a permanent green screen, giving M-PACT TV faster turnarounds for PSAs and smaller productions alongside its main studio.
Public Access, Open to Everyone
We believe members of our communities should have real opportunities to take part in producing and sharing local programming. Public access gives residents a practical way to engage in conversations about the issues that affect their lives.
Within our policies and procedures, and subject to reasonable availability, scheduling, and demand, our facilities and staff are here for community members and groups who want to share programming and information of local interest, including diverse and informative programming you won’t find anywhere else.
